Yo,

This morning, after eating oats with cow's milk…

I was reading a book called Designing Brand Identity (6th edition).

There's a chapter called "Designing Identity" that literally opened up my view on branding.

It was literally 50 pages of reading lol.

But in this email, I'm gonna give you the key points.

Here we go:

THE IMPORTANCE OF COLOR:

Colour creates emotion, triggers memory, and gives sensation.

Multiple studies have suggested that colour has a significant impact on purchase decisions.

Ex: On a landing page or sales page, you will see a purchase button in green because it makes you feel safe.

ICONOGRAPHY:

Icons are all around us.

These are some of the most powerful tools we have to communicate across language and cultural barriers.

So, there are 2 techniques for any iconography:

  1. Iconic technique: distilling objects or concepts into icons.

Example: Nike’s Swoosh.

The whole idea of speed and the Greek goddess of victory is boiled down to one simple curve.

Apple’s bitten apple works the same way.

  1. Narrative technique: icons that tell stories.

Example: Amazon’s arrow runs from A to Z, so it says “we sell everything,” and it also looks like a smile.

SOUND:

Sound shapes perceptions and evokes emotion in anything you share in reel or video format.

And that’s why there’s a famous saying: “All brands are in the entertainment industry. Most of them just don't know it yet.”

OTHER SENSES:

  • Smell

  • Taste

  • Touch

Every single thing in your brand should be, in a way, the way it needs to be…

Your company data could be worth $100k–$3 million

There's a new channel of revenue that has just been unlocked for companies with over 20 people that have been around longer than a year.

Few know it, but AI labs now let you monetize your company’s operational data, and they're spending $15 billion this year on it to train the next frontier of LLMs. Your workflows, documentation, processes, and internal convos like Slack are extremely valuable and they're paying anywhere from $100k to $3 million for it per company.

Before you ask, all the data is anonymized and cleaned before it's sent to a Lab. Bezel (Y combinator backed) helps find a data partner that is the best fit for you.

If you have any queries, feel free to reply to this email. I will get back to you ASAP.
